Our strategy of “sheds, beds & infrastructure” is based on strengths and skills that GARBE developed over the past few decades. With this in mind, we gathered our business activities into three top-level business units—GARBE Industrial, GARBE Reside and GARBE Infrastructure—in order to pool our resources and to exploit synergies within these business areas. At the same time, we are very close to the market because of the decentralised positioning of our operational units while retaining the necessary flexibility as a largely autonomous enterprise. This allows us to engage in active value creation in all of our operational units as we generate sustainable value for our clients.

OUR 360-DEGREE MANAGEMENT APPROACH

We entrust the operational implementation of our ventures to our tested and successful management approach: All of our business lines are supposed to be built up and expanded into a fully integrated 360-degree real estate platform that is active all over Europe. The idea is to cover the entire value chain of a given property as developer, operator and investor. Moreover, we intend to internationalise all of our business lines.

Our GARBE Industrial arm implements the “sheds” component of our strategy. With our market-leading position in the industrial, logistics and food retail sectors, we are creating a full integrated real estate platform that covers the entire industrial value chain – from production to the end customer. It includes classic logistics real estate, light industrial assets, last mile consumer infrastructure, science & tech facilities as well as data centres.

GARBE Reside

Our long-term experience as a leading property developer in terms of quality, innovation and sustainability is the basis of our activities in conventional housing construction as well as in urban block development and commercial lodging establishments such as hotels, student housing, corporate living and senior living. We are going to expand this unit into a platform operating across Europe and handling our own projects while also providing third-party services in the sense of service developments.

Our focus on the production and storage of renewable energy and on infrastructure projects in the same field is explained by the enormous significance that decarbonisation has for the real estate industry and by the willingness of our investors to address this issue. In the same context, we are also taking on the issues of energy transition, meaning the need to move away from fossil fuels and towards the sustainable, independent and efficient use of renewable energies.

Rather than being opposites, environmental concerns and climate change mitigation, on the one hand, and economic prosperity, on the other hand, are two sides of the same medal. We have set ourselves the task to make our business fit for the future and to reconcile these two aspects. To this end, we rely on our long-term experience with timber construction, with the conversion of offices into apartments, with energy-efficient data centres, and with the use of PV systems on top of our logistics assets.
